Richard Thair (drums, percussion, turntables), Ali Fiend (bass) and David Ayers (guitars, programming), Red Snapper, have been creating hybrid musical genres since 1993, including three ground breaking and highly successful albums on Warp. UK label, Keep Diggin is now proud to present Red Snapper’s first ever compilation. In fact, this is actually their last long-player to feature the Red Snapper name because the group is disbanding! As you would expect, the album contains a healthy dosage of jazz (in its loosest form), taking you through elements of electronica, beats & breaks, deep house, and downtempo moods. It commences with the collision of 4AD indie band His Name is Alive with Detroit’s minimal electro extremists, Ectomorph. The album also includes offerings from Riton, Prefuse 73 and a couple of Snapper’s own productions. Also watch out for the two exclusive tracks on the album - one from Andrew Weatherall and Keith Tenniswood under their Aramcheck moniker and one from Richard’s new recording partner Jake One. The labels featured here list as a who’s who of the underground: Warp, 4AD, Nuphonic, Pussyfoot, Grand Central, Alola & Pagan to name a few….So get ready to delve into the minds of the Snapper collective….It’s All Good!
